Our favourite local farm, Wellspring Gardens will be offering our kombucha!
Set to launch their pilot Shopify online ordering system within the week, Wellspring Food Stop has been busy building raised gardens, ploughing fields, planting, tending to the animals, and preparing to offer members the first harvest of the year. We are lucky enough to have been early adopters of the membership and are eagerly awaiting the fresh goods we've come to enjoy at Wellspring Gardens from previous Farmers' Markets. Every week, the 22 members will shop the food offerings available through the online store and pick up right at the farm. Talk about fresh! With an assortment of delicious eats including greens, veggies, goat cheese & meat, eggs, pork, and a line of wood-fired baked goods including pizza, breads, scones, and beans, (and now kombucha to wash it down) the menu possibilities have us drooling. Wellspring Gardens owners, Sheila and Joe are also hosting Grace and Jess, two new farmers who have launched their incubator project Wild Path Farm on Wellspring soil. They have been working hard to get the fields ready and crops planted despite an enormous amount of rain. We are fortunate to have such dedicated farmers working tirelessly together to feed the locavores of the area. Wellspring Gardens will be at the Deep River Farmers' Market this year, so if you missed the chance to become a member, don't fret, they've got you covered with fresh, local fare at their booth. First market is this Saturday, May 27 from 10:00 - 1:00 at the Town Hall and will run every second Saturday until the end of September. See you there! We were at Hyska's Your Independent Grocer on Monday, May 15th from 4-6 pm giving away samples and answering questions about all things kombucha. Kombucha fans and some brave new-to-the-scene customers stopped and had a sample of The Apple of My Chai and Cranberry Chill while they did their grocery shopping. We are proud to be a part of the growing locally-made selection of products available at the Independent Grocers. The growth in this sector is phenomenal and it's amazing to see local products popping up in larger stores. Thanks to health-conscious customers who make the demand for fresh, local, and healthy, and to Hyska's Independent Grocer for inviting us to share our brew in their store.
We've teamed up with another great local business! Our kombucha is now chillin' in the fridge at Burnt Bridge Quality Meats. Located at 20 Wolfe Avenue in Petawawa, Burnt Bridge is the place to shop for high-quality, hormone-free, locally raised beef, pork, lamb, chicken, fish, seafood, elk, bison, and farm-fresh eggs. Also carrying a range of gourmet hot sauces, BBQ sauces, marinades, gluten-free sausages and artisan beef jerky, Burnt Bridge will have you ready for BBQ season. Open Monday to Friday 10am - 5pm and Saturday 10am - 4pm.
