We can’t wait to see what you come up with! We've tried something new! CRABAPPLE SUMAC! Another locally harvested flavour made with ingredients from the beautiful Ottawa Valley. We've hand-picked lots of crabapples in the area (thanks to friends and family!) and we're loving the fruity taste of this one! A delicious brew that's not tot too tart, naturally sweet, and flush with flavour. Think freshly juiced apples with a hint of wild berries (and that's exactly what it is!). Sumac berries are anti-inflammatory and a powerful antioxidant. Combined with Vitamin C from the crabapples, and the usual benefits of raw kombucha, this is the perfect beverage for this time of year. Aaaaand Crabapple GINGER has returned! We had to make use of every last drop of juiced crabapple, so back by popular demand is our Crabapple Ginger. Made with hand-picked local crabapples and freshly juiced organic ginger, this seasonal flavour is sure to please the palate (and help give your immune system a boost!). Pour yourself a tall glass! On tap at The Olive Tree in Deep River and Blendz Smoothie Shop in Pembroke. Sudbury's first zero waste store, The Nickel Refillery Inc, will be opening soon! We couldn't be happier that they are set to feature our kombucha on tap, with refillable bottles. Pursuing a path of less impact on the planet, owners Liz, Trista, and Julie, came together to share their knowledge and passion of waste reduction by creating a storefront to provide convenient access to zero-waste products and supplies. In meeting with Liz (a wonderfully cheerful, down-to-earth, soon-to-be Mother of two), it was quickly apparent that her passion for this project runs through and through, and she is determined to spread the good vibes and her product knowledge to the Sudbury area. “For a community to employ a zero-waste strategy, it needs to ensure everyone has access to tools to reduce, reuse and recycle waste where they live, work and play … we want to support this process”. "We have sourced a variety of products with a focus on those that are local or Canadian, organic, non-toxic, preservative-free, and cruelty-free, all in bulk and without disposable packaging". The Nickel Refillery's product lineup includes many household items such as metal and glass containers and straws, dish soap, laundry soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, bamboo toothbrushes, sunscreen, household cleaners, a variety of toiletries, beeswax food wrap, refillable bottles, oils, and several more items. The store is set to open in the next few weeks. Keep an eye out for their Grand Opening, follow them on social media, and be sure to pop in if you're in the area. Let's all raise a glass and give these ladies a hand for helping to make this planet a better place for us all. Café Obscura has opened their doors! Sudbury's newest coffee shop is drawing in a unique crowd, and it's not just for the delicious coffee. The shop is a one-of-a-kind print and film development store. That's right, FILM! What we once thought was a near obsolete craft has been making a resurgence over the last few years. Film sales have seen a slight increase as millennials and former film photographers gravitate towards using older cameras and developing their own film. A new light has been shed into darkrooms and black and white prints are back in style. As a former darkroom gal myself, there's something so serene, and rewarding spending hours printing your own photos.
Owner and photographer, David Wiewel opened the shop this month and has been thrilled with the success of the café over the first few weeks. Film enthusiasts have come out of the woodwork, customers have been bringing in long lost rolls of film they figured would never be developed, and curious residents have been stopping in to see the impressive collection of old cameras on display and for sale. David develops each and every roll himself, and has been pulling late shifts attending to the back log of film. He's also managing the café solo for now but is considering hiring a barista and front counter staff in the near future. Situated at the corner of College and Elm Street, the café is spacious with loads of character. Vintage seating and wooden tables make for a cozy (and photo-worthy) place to enjoy your cup o' jo and catch up on the latest news. Serving up Sudbury's locally roasted Old Rock Coffee and freshly made soup and sandwiches by Beards Bakery and Pinchmans, there's something for everyone to fill up on at lunch and snack time. Patrons can wash down their meal with a glass of our kombucha as the café now pours kombucha on tap (cue happy dance!). Offering two flavours of our draught kombucha and four flavours in bottles, Café Obscura marks our third fill station, adding to the local flare and small business support of the shop. Open Monday to Friday from 8am until 6pm and on Saturday from 10am until 4 pm, head on over to Café Obscura to check out one of very few analog film and development stores in North America. A rare gem! Pour yourself a cold glass of Very Cherry kombucha!
This refreshingly simple booch made with organic Ontario cherries is sure to please the palate on a hot Summer's day. Fill up on tap at The Olive Tree in Deep River, and Blendz Smoothie Shop in Pembroke. Just in time for the long weekend, our limited edition seasonal flavour Strawberry Rhubarb is here! We infused our raw kombucha with organic Ontario strawberries and fresh, locally harvested rhubarb to create this refreshing flavour. It doesn't get much better than enjoying the fruit of our own backyard! Best served chilled over ice and enjoyed on a hot Summer day, this brew is sweetly satisfying and full of healthy benefits. Fill up on tap at Blendz Smoothie Shop and The Olive Tree in Deep River. PLUS for a limited time, you can purchase a 1L booch refill AND a Strawberry Rhubarb Pie made fresh from B & R Bakery for only $20!! Cheers to local goodness! Wishing you a happy Canada Day long weekend! Our Seasonal flavour Maple Rose is back, only this time it's a little different. Made using maple sap and wood-fired maple syrup in place of water and cane sugar to start the batch, this brew has a smoky, mild syrup taste and a slight hint of rose. Sourced from our friends in Chalk River, Bagg's Road Maple Syrup was boiled down over a wood fire, giving it a more earthy, camp fire taste, prompting us to rename the batch Wood-fired Maple. Thoughts of camping and cooking over the fire came through over the first few sips, and we're feeling the first Summer vibes around here. Let's hope the bugs stay away (we can dream, right!?). Try Wood-fired Maple on tap now at The Olive Tree in Deep River and on deck for next week at Blendz Smoothie Shop in Pembroke. Let us know what you think of this unique brew! We've created a special Pride edition kombucha to show our support for the LGBTQ community! Introducing PRIDE and EQUALI-TEA Kombucha. Developed to stand out from the rest, this booch made its debut on tap today featuring a fun, bolder, appearance, symbolizing uniqueness, inclusion, and flare. As a kombucha brewery, an exciting part of our work is flavour development and taste-testing. Originally we had thought of formulating a kombucha combining a fruit from every colour in the rainbow, but the end result would have had less effect and visual appeal. Pride and Equali-Tea is much more simple in flavour, yet loud and proud in its striking colour. Infused with organic whole pineapple, stevia leaf, and blue algae powder, this vibrant brew is anything but ordinary. Known in colour psychology as the colour of the evolved soul, Turquoise not only helps evoke peace, happiness, and creativity, but it is said to help open communication, build self-esteem and self-love, which in turn supports our ability to love others unconditionally. As a proud sponsor for the Pembroke Pride Festival, we also wanted to take the opportunity to use our kombucha for the cause. $1 from every 1L Pride and Equali-Tea bottle sold will be donated to supporting Pride initiatives in our community. Booch lovers can fill up on tap in Pembroke at Blendz Smoothie Shop and in Deep River at The Olive Tree, knowing their purchase contributes to making a difference. Although the brew is seriously delicious as is, we thought a signature Pride and Equali-Tea kombucha cocktail recipe would take it to the next level. - Pride and Equali-Tea Cocktail - 4 oz Pride and Equali-Tea Kombucha 3 oz Pineapple Juice 1 oz Blue Curaçao 0.5 oz Vodka Pour over ice or combine ingredients in a shaker, serve in a tall glass and garnish with a pineapple, strawberry or whatever suits your fancy. Make it colourful, just like you! *Opt out of the alcohol and it's just as delicious as a virgin cocktail! Other cocktail recipes like Electric Lemonade, Smurf, or Blue Margarita can be made by using half juice, half kombucha or by fully replacing the pop with kombucha. June is Pride month. We stand proud alongside our LGBTQ family members, peers, those in our community and across the globe. Together we unite, not only this week, this month, but always, making our voices heard and understood, moving forward in alignment so that we never have to be afraid to wave our flag and show off our brilliant true colours. Join in the many fun and exciting activities throughout Pembroke Pride Week from June 7th to 15th and for a full day of celebration at the Pembroke Pride Festival on June 15th. A huge thank you to the Pembroke Pride volunteers and organizers! “One day we won’t have to ”come out of the closet”. We’ll just say we are in love and that will be all that matters.” -Ellen Degeneres We haven't had this flavour on tap since our first Farmers' Market days and it couldn't come back at a more opportune time! Known as one of the top most potent anti-viral herbs, elderberry is a major cold and flu buster. If you've had that bug that's been going around (or have been one of the lucky ones who hasn't) this is the booch for you! Made with organic elderberry and elderflower, this kombucha is seriously delicious (if I do say so myself!), lightly fruity, and ever-so-slightly floral. Described by Hippocrates (the "Father of Medicine") as his "medicine chest", elderberry has a wide array of benefits and uses including help with sinuses, allergies, and blood sugar stabilization, but is most known for its effectiveness at mitigating cold and flu symptoms. And if you're already healthy as a horse, well just try it for the refreshing taste. ;) On tap now at The Olive Tree in Deep River and Blendz Smoothie Shop & Healthy Eatery! ❤️ VALENTINE'S DAY PROMO & GIVEAWAY ❤️ Buy 2x 1L bottles and get $4 off!! We've made a batch of Mulled Cranberry Citrus for the holidays! We began this festive booch by mulling pure cranberry juice with sliced orange, mandarine, fresh Ontario cranberries, cinnamon bark, clove, and dried orange peel. Once cooled, we added more cranberry juice AND freshly juiced clementine and orange. The perfect Christmas blend. Jazz it up by pouring over ice, cranberries and an orange slice. Also makes a great sangria addition or a delicious cocktail mix. Find it on tap at Blendz Smoothie Shop & Healthy Eatery in Pembroke and The Olive Tree in Deep River. Hurry in! Limited supply! We wanted to write a quick note about our 1L bottle program. We appreciate the support and participation in our 1L refill program at The Olive Tree in Deep River and LEAP Health Hub. We want to continue this on tap system as it is environmentally friendly and respectful to Mama Earth. But we gotta be real. Some bottles are not being rinsed and are left with gunk that's difficult to remove. Our bottles are washed and sanitized and repacked by hand and let's just say it's not our favourite job at the brewery (sorry to dash your dream job, Professional Bottle Washer hopefuls). We'd love for you to give a quick rinse to your bottle once you've finished that last sip of booch. To those who have been taking the time to rinse, we appreciate your efforts and say a little thank you under our breath each time. Hey Honey! Check out our latest beverage, Jun.
What is Jun, you ask? Jun is a fermented tea very similar to kombucha but instead it uses honey as the nutrient rather than cane sugar. A traditional kombucha SCOBY (A.K.A. the culture) cannot use honey for a nutrient source as the naturally-occurring antibacterial properties of the honey will damage the beneficial bacteria of the kombucha culture. Jun SCOBYs have adapted over time to be able to use real honey as its food source, creating a sweet, distinct honey flavoured drink with the same probiotic and beneficial acids as kombucha. In addition to the health advantages of kombucha, consuming jun will expose you to the numerous benefits of honey. Raw honey contains amino acids, enzymes and polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants that reduce free-radical damage and may help reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. Consuming honey native to your area will also boost your immune system, can alleviate symptoms of a cough and sore throat, and may help decrease seasonal allergies. We use a premium raw Canadian honey that is 100% pure, natural, Kosher, and unpasteurized, providing you with the full benefits of a true honey. Our Nude Jun is unflavoured, keeping the brew traditional and simple to let the subtle sweetness of the honey shine through. Try our Nude Jun on tap at the Olive Tree in Deep River with our environmentally-friendly 1L refill program. It's March Break and we're a bit PB & Jealous seeing all the posts of friends on the beach down South. So we decided to bring the beach to you!
Introducing our latest flavour, PINEAPPLE BLISS. With subtle sour notes of pineapple, a hit of citrus from orange peel, and a hint of coconut, this tropical blend is best served over ice, while daydreaming of your toes in the sand, and a warm breeze on your face. All ingredients are 100% organic. On tap now at The Olive Tree in Deep River while quantities last. NEW FLAVOUR ON TAP!
We've gone back to our roots with JUST GINGER kombucha. Made with freshly juiced organic ginger root, this booch is powerful in both flavour and benefits. Perfect for this time of year when it seems everyone is getting sick. Ginger boosts immunity, helps with nausea, promotes regular digestion and metabolism of food, is anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory, and may help ward off the cold and flu that's going around. Enjoy a cup or bottle from LEAP Health Hub and The Olive Tree in Deep River We've teamed up with Engine House Coffee to bring you the perfect combination of cold brewed coffee and raw kombucha.
Using their Still Standing medium roasted coffee beans, this cold brew infusion is bound to wake you up and keep you chugging along. Coffee lovers will delight in the full flavour and dark chocolate notes of Still Standing and kombucha fans will enjoy the sweet tang of the raw kombucha. Engine House Coffee roast their fair trade organic coffee beans in Eganville, Ontario and offer a wide selection of coffee varieties roasted fresh in small fresh batches. You may have seen owners, Dan and Genevieve at the Carp Farmers Market or sipped on a delicious cup of Engine House jo somewhere throughout the Valley. Their freshly roasted beans are available for purchase online or in a number of stores in and around the area. For a full list of stores carrying Engine House Coffee, visit www.enginehousecoffee.com. Our Engine House Coffee Kombucha is available on tap at The Olive Tree in Deep River and LEAP Health Hub in Pembroke. Please note that due to the caffeine of the coffee, this flavour will be much more caffeinated than any other flavour. Cheers! Saturday, October 14th was a busy day in Renfrew with the 2nd Annual Frewtober Craft Beer & Food Truck Festival. Downtown Renfrew was the place to be to sample locally brewed beer (and kombucha!) and eat delicious food while listening to live music.
This year featured even more options with a total of 12 breweries, 3 food trucks, a coffee truck, and a mobile bar and lounge. The weather cooperated with the rain holding off and a balmy temperature for mid-October and attendance was remarkably increased in comparison to last year's rainy day and near freezing temperature. Fireworks ended the night with an exciting display from the rooftop of the Town Hall. Festival goers enjoyed an assortment of beer brewed from Whitewater Brewing Co, Beau's All Natural Brewing Co, Perth Brewery, Cartwright Springs Brewery, Broadhead Brewing Co, Square Timber Brewing Co, Dominion City Brewing Co, Tuque de Broue Brewing, Calabogie Brewing Co, Kichesippi Beer Co, and Old Boys Beer. New to the line up this year, Cellar 82 covered all other alcoholic beverages with their spiffy Mobile Bar & Lounge truck. For the second year in a row, Laurentian Brew and Caffeine Fix had you covered for non-alcoholic drinks. Foodies united and dined out with food from Big D's Dog House & Poutine Emporium, Tracie's Hollywood Diner, and Mr. Churritos all of which just about sold out of everything! Another year reacquainting with fellow brewer friends, catching up with amazing fans and supporters, and meeting new faces, the 2nd Annual Renfrew Craft Beer & Food Truck Festival was a successful event and we are already looking forward to next year. A big thanks to all who made it possible including Jennifer Charkavi, her family, and all the volunteers! Pumpkin Spice and everything nice. Well, we weren't going to jump on the bandwagon, but we had a lot of pumpkin spice kickin' around... so Pumpkin Spice lovers; this one's for you!
