Under new ownership as of last Summer, plans are underway to expand the offerings within the store as well as additional services that enable customers to remain in their vehicle to exceed their expectations for a full service experience. Owners Keri and Jordan Radford have added more local products to the shop and continue to explore new options for their customers.

A fairly new business in Petawawa, J&E's Bored N' Saucy was established by a husband and wife team, Jeremy and Elissa, (high-five fellow Ma n' Pa biz!) who started perfecting their own sauces at home, offering it to family and friends, and then spreading their saucy love all over the town when they opened their store this past Spring. Situated in the new plaza adjacent to Hyska's Your Independent Grocer, J&E's Bored N' Saucy is in good company with several new neighbours who have also recently planted their feet in the 'hood.

With so many reasons to stop by the area, you'll be sure to work up an appetite. Pop on in for a kombucha, grab a bite, order for your pals, and get saucy!

A New Leaf Food Experience has just opened their doors!

Located in Petawawa on Victoria Street, A New Leaf is a plant-based, made-from-scratch restaurant. Featuring soups, salads, wraps, sweet treats, snacks and entrées, you'll find a tasty meal to take out or dine in. 

I sampled the Rainbow Hummus (my favourite was the sweet potato!) served with fresh veggies. Paired with a kombucha to wash it down (four flavours in stock!), this hit the spot for the lunchtime belly growls.

Hours of operation are currently 11am - 7pm Tuesday to Saturday, serving the lunch crowd, midday snack attacks, and ringing the supper bell. A New Leaf is also hiring! Hit up their Facebook page for contact info if you think you might be an asset to the team.

You may notice a new bottle alongside the Great Eight! 

That's because we've officially launched our Nude Jun!! Landing on the shelves today, our Jun is now available in 500 ml bottles, making it one of the only commercial, fully-labeled and lab-tested Juns in Canada!

But just what is JUN? (pronounced like gin but replace the "i" with an "uh" sound)
Jun is a fermented tea similar to kombucha only it uses a raw honey as its nutrient rather than cane sugar. Kombucha culture cannot use raw honey as the antibacterial properties of the honey compete with the bacteria in the kombucha, destroying the culture. Jun culture has been adapted over time to use the raw honey without issue, making it even more valuable with the known benefits of raw honey. 

We've kept our first flavour of Jun as simple as can be, using only organic sencha green tea, unpasteurized kosher Canadian honey, and naturally-occurring live cultures of bacteria and yeast. In essence it is "nude", unflavoured, with no frills, leaving the subtle taste of honey and green tea shine through a natural fermentation process. Honey lovers, this one's for you!

Aside from the numerous health benefits of both honey and fermentation, our Jun is also low in overall sugar with only 6 grams of sugar per 250 ml serving. Raw honey is only used at the beginning of the process in order for the fermentation to occur. No sugar or honey is added afterwards, giving you and your belly another reason to sip, smile, and enjoy. 

Since the Spring our Jun has only been available on tap at events and in one refill location.

Formerly Pronto, the Becker's convenience store is the centre of a busy hub in the heart of Petawawa. With a wide selection of snacks, beverages, staple foods, a pizza joint, laundromat, hair salon, and the area's Greyhound bus stop, our brew is in good company. 

Pick up a bottle to sip on while getting your hair done at Drea's Barber Shop, wash down a Greco's pizza with a Wild Blueberry kombucha, grab a booch for the long bus ride, or sit and drink a healthy beverage while waiting for your laundry to finish. Petawawa's newest salon, The Urban Lounge Salon & Spa now offers kombucha! 

This gorgeous location is a must-try for anyone looking to get a cut, colour, makeover, or a day of pampering. The Urban Lounge opened their doors in Fall of last year beside The Country Cupboard on Petawawa Boulevard. The salon is beautifully renovated with a modern, peaceful decor and an open-concept floor plan.

A wide range of services are offered including all things hair (wash, cut, colour, style, oil treatment), relaxation massage, manicure/pedicure, waxing, makeup, facials, spray tan, eyelash tint or extensions, laser hair removal, and bridal packages. We were at Hyska's Your Independent Grocer on Monday, May 15th from 4-6 pm giving away samples and answering questions about all things kombucha. Kombucha fans and some brave new-to-the-scene customers stopped and had a sample of The Apple of My Chai and Cranberry Chill while they did their grocery shopping. We are proud to be a part of the growing locally-made selection of products available at the Independent Grocers. The growth in this sector is phenomenal and it's amazing to see local products popping up in larger stores. Thanks to health-conscious customers who make the demand for fresh, local, and healthy, and to Hyska's Independent Grocer for inviting us to share our brew in their store. 

We've teamed up with another great local business! Our kombucha is now chillin' in the fridge at Burnt Bridge Quality Meats. Located at 20 Wolfe Avenue in Petawawa, Burnt Bridge is the place to shop for high-quality, hormone-free, locally raised beef, pork, lamb, chicken, fish, seafood, elk, bison, and farm-fresh eggs. Also carrying a range of gourmet hot sauces, BBQ sauces, marinades, gluten-free sausages and artisan beef jerky, Burnt Bridge will have you ready for BBQ season. Open Monday to Friday 10am - 5pm and Saturday 10am - 4pm. 

All eight flavours of our kombucha in 500 ml bottles are now available at Hyska's Your Independent Grocer in Petawawa. We're honoured to be on the shelves in the front of the store next to the fresh juices and berries. Hyska's Independent Grocer is a family operated grocery store committed to product variety and freshness. Recently they launched a fresh juice bar to the store with made-in-store fresh orange juice, fruit blends, green juices, veggie options, and even fresh lemonade. With a focus on offering locally made products becoming more and more popular, we are so happy to be a part of this growing trend in the grocery stores. At long last Petawawa kombucha drinkers now have a retailer to stock up on local booch! Lunch made easy! Every Thursday Maven Catering offers a healthy lunch option delivered right to your door or place of work. Cheers to the launch of our GREAT EIGHT 500 ml bottles! We've done it! Labels are on and we are gearing up to have our kombucha available in 8 locations in the Ottawa Valley including retailers in Pembroke, Petawawa, Chalk River and another in Deep River. Fully compliant with an ingredient list, nutrition panel and bar code, these are the real deal and what we've been working towards over the past year. We narrowed it down to 8 top flavours for the 500 ml size and will be continuing to offer our 1L on tap refill program with seasonal and trial flavours to mix things up.
