Well that was a first! A different venue and a one of a kind event. Kombucha and food pairings to kick off the weekend.
Maven Catering made 5 delicious courses to go with 5 flavours of our kombucha and we were in heaven. If you've ever had the pleasure of tasting anything Chef Carolyn Arnold makes, you'd know why. From the Pulled Chicken and Mango Salsa Tacos, to the Blue Cheese Stuffed Apricots with White Balsamic Reduction and Candied Apricots (fave!), each food pairing was carefully selected to bring out the flavours of the booch infusions, or vice versa. Our taste buds were tantilized and our palates pleased. Games and conversations brought friends new and old together for some laughs and friendly competition. Kombucha Kocktails were a hit, blending the best of both worlds while maintaining the beneficial properties of our cultured drink. A special thanks to Eric for bringing a wide variety of games, and many thanks to all who came out, helped out, and spread the booch love.

KombuchaKon is an annual event focused on educating and networking with experienced and newbie kombucha brewers alike. Held at the Long Beach Convention Centre in Long Beach, California on February 11 & 12 we had the privilege of attending KombuchaKon 17 - Rising Tides.
Aside from the obvious allure of palm trees and warmer temperatures, KombuchaKon hosts brewers from around the globe to connect for a weekend of brewer-focused education sessions and the world's largest kombucha tasting bar. Meeting lovely like-minded, health-conscious individuals and hearing their stories of great success helped to reassure us of our role in this industry. We are proud to be members of Kombucha Brewers International and were recharged with the energy and love surrounding our kombucha family. To hear the passion and success of the founders of KBI and it's members was nothing short of invigorating. The kombucha industry is growing at an extremely fast rate and we as brewers are uniting to make it happen on a global scale. Educating people about kombucha and its many benefits was a resounding goal of every brewer in the room. We enjoyed meeting so many different companies and it was awesome to put a face to the name or connect in person with those we've been chatting with from a distance. A huge thanks to Hannah Crum and Alex LaGory, founders of KBI and all those who made this event a wonderful success. We were floored by the collective generosity and sharing of information from major brewers who gave their time and energy for the benefit of the growing kombucha industry. We look forward to next year when we meet again with our friends, fill our bellies full of booch, and share our love of kombucha. EXTRA! EXTRA! Read all about it! We've changed our 1L bottles! We've swapped out the flip-top bottles for these Boston Rounds and hope you'll be as happy with them as we are. We know you might have a wonderful, loving relationship with your Ikea flip-top, but let's be honest, it just wasn't going to last. The old bottles served us well and we loved the 'pop' when you opened them but we had to travel to get them, some seals weren't locking properly, the bottles were actually 1.1L and we weren't able to recoup the true cost of everything. Sooooooooo.. here we are, with an awesome new bottle that we've had our eye on for quite some time. A true 1 litre bottle, sleek and simple with a twist-off cap to keep a better seal. This also means you will pay less with a lower cost bottle. Really a big win all 'round. We hope you like them and would love to hear your opinion. You are welcome to keep your old bottles, but our Big Booch Refill Program is still in place. Thanks for being awesome! |
